Janet Roller - Living Oak Ministries

My photo
Hi. I'm Janet Roller: wife of one, mother of two, lover of coffee and writer of songs. I have just finished my first fiction novel and I'm looking forward to watching how God uses the simple story to minister to others. God is a big deal to me. My goal each day is to wake up and declare, "This day is Yours, Lord. Show me what to do with it."

What is it about Summer?

What is it about summer? The lack of schedule and constant travel is a sure way to get off schedule with God. No Spirit rain equals dryness of the soul. I’m there…and so are many of the ladies I’ve talked to recently.

It’s easy to do: the kids sleep in, so do you. Mornings usually reserved for soulful conversations are now replaced with deep bed-lines across your face, telling a different story. Before long, the rut of dryness becomes deeper than any crease in the face…and the soul desperately longs for moisture.

I’ve been presented with a few decisions for the future and I can’t make a discernment-based decision without time in The Word. This morning I put myself in the book where wisdom is found.

Proverbs 2 (New International Version)
Moral Benefits of Wisdom

1 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,
3 and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.

6 For the LORD gives wisdom,
and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Sometimes I slip into a mode of spoiled expectancy...waiting for God to just shine a big beam on the right path. After reading this passage, I italicized what's required of me in order to receive wisdom from God: in a word - action. I must actively seek Him and THEN I will receive wisdom, knowledge and understanding (v6).

I'm feeling a few drops already.
